Description
One of 9,807 ever brought over to this side of the Atlantic, the Porsche 911SC Targa is an open-top ride on an aircooled rollercoaster. With its 3.0-liter flat-six and a five-speed manual transaxle, the Targa is an enthusiast’s delight and an open-air experience unlike any other.
At a factory rated 172 horsepower and 189 lb-ft of torque, 0 to 60 took just six seconds flat, and with enough open road, the Targa reached a reported top speed of 130 miles per hour. Braking is handled by ventilated four-wheel disc brakes, and 16” Fuchs wheels are wrapped in Pirelli P7 tires for maximum grip in the corners. Lacking the bulbous fenders and oversized whale tail of the 930 Turbo, the 911SC Targa is a sleek and subtle open-top aircooled coupe for those who are looking for more of the thrills and less of the frills.
Passed down from a father to his son, this single-family-owned 1980 example is finished in a fabulous Casablanca Beige over a supple Cadbury Brown leather interior and features a color-coordinated dashboard, door panels, and carpets. Classic 911 exterior appointments include fog lights, dual side mirrors, model badging in black, rear bumperettes, and a single-exit exhaust tailpipe, while Targa-specific visual cues consist of a black Targa bar and a removable black Targa roof panel.
Inside the cabin, bucket seats are trimmed in Cadbury Brown leather that extends to the dashboard and the door panels, while a three-spoke, leather-wrapped steering wheel frames a central tachometer with a 6,300-rpm redline and an 85-mph speedometer. Adjacent to the tachometer, the driver is presented with gauges for oil level, oil temperature, oil pressure, and fuel level, as well as a clock to ensure consistent punctuality. A Blaupunkt AM/FM/cassette unit powers the background music to your spirited Sunday drives through four separate speakers, and for the comfort of your passengers, optional air conditioning and power windows provide control over the cabin’s temperature.
Preparation for sale included four new Pirelli Cinturato P7 tires, an engine oil service, the replacement of the fuel filter with a fresh tank of gas, the replacement of the alternator, and a brand new battery.
Displaying just 11k original miles from new, this 1980 911SC Targa is now ready to be driven home and is currently offered with two keys, manufacturer’s literature, and a clean Colorado title.
