2017 Ferrari F12tdf

After the acclaimed GTO moniker graced the higher-spec 599 GTB, Ferrari revived another storied name for an even more potent version of the F12berlinetta: Tour de France, a nod to the legendary 250 GT Berlinetta Competizione’s dominance in the late 1950s Tour de France Automobile road race. Unveiled at the 2015 Finali Mondiali at Autodromo Internazionale del Mugello, the F12tdf stood as the most powerful naturally aspirated Ferrari ever built, and was offered exclusively to the marque’s top clients. The F12tdf, a road-legal yet track-focused variant, featured significant enhancements over the already advanced F12berlinetta. Its 6.3-liter V12 engine was retuned to deliver an astounding 769 horsepower, making it—excluding the LaFerrari hybrid—more powerful than any previous Ferrari.

The space-frame chassis, co-developed with Scaglietti, utilizes 12 different aluminum alloys, resulting in a 20% increase in rigidity over the 599 while shedding 154 pounds. Engineers also lowered the center of gravity by about one inch, achieving nearly perfect weight distribution. Extensive carbon fiber use saved an additional 243 pounds, enhancing performance. Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a seven-speed, dual-clutch, paddle-shifted transmission with shorter ratios for quicker shifts. Carbon-ceramic disc brakes with one-piece calipers, borrowed from the LaFerrari, provide exceptional stopping power. The F12tdf also introduced four-wheel steering as standard, enhancing agility and handling.

Visually, the F12tdf is more aggressive with wider side sills and an “aerobridge” directing airflow along the sides. A taller rear wing and active rear diffuser increase downforce by 87% compared to the standard F12, contributing to a 0-60 mph time of just 2.9 seconds and a top speed of 211 mph. It is only 1.3 seconds slower than the LaFerrari around Ferrari’s Fiorano test track. The original Tour de France Automobile race rewarded cars combining maximum performance with drivability. The F12tdf epitomizes this concept: an extreme road car equally at home on the track. With just 799 units produced from 2015 to 2017, any F12tdf is rare. Every carbon fiber option was selected, including carbon fiber floor plates, headlight buckets, rear parcel shelf, complete carbon fiber engine bay, Tailor Made carbon fiber door sills, and external door handles. Additional features include factory-approved carbon fiber shields, a Brushed Titanium fuel door, a Tailor Made luggage set matching the interior leather, historic diamond stitch quilting on the center tunnel and rear parcel deck, and interior badges, air vents, and center shift trim in matte-finish Grigio Coburn. The exterior horses, shields, and wheel center caps are finished in satin, with the rear deck lid script in Matte Pure Silver.

A service at Blue Chip in May of 2024 included a complete vehicle inspection, the replacement of drive belts, the replacement of the brake master cylinder and brake booster, and a brake fluid flush. The vehicle is also fully protected with Paint Protection Film and Clearplex on the windshield.
