Description
Unveiled in March of 2018, the Ferrari 488 Pista is the latest and greatest of the limited-run Ferrari V8 specials. Italian for “track”, the Pista follows a similar recipe to its predecessors: take the current mid-engined V8 model, reduce the weight, and add power. And while, on a very basic level, these metrics do apply to the Pista, it is so technologically advanced when compared to the 488 GTB that simply calling it “lighter and faster” would be doing it a disservice.
To start, 50% of the engine components in the Pista are new. Included in that 50% is a lighter crankshaft, a lighter flywheel, and lighter titanium connecting rods. A new Inconel exhaust manifold reduces back pressure and weighs 21 pounds less than the one in the GTB. As a result, the 488 Pista produces 710 horsepower - 49 more than the GTB. Revisions to the 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox allow for a gear change to take place in just 30 milliseconds, and magnetorheological suspension has been incorporated to improve handling at high speeds. The body work of the car has also been modified to produce 20% more downforce than the 488 GTB. The air duct where air passes through in the front of the car is called an S-Duct, and the technology was directly inspired by their Formula 1 car. The rear diffuser is the same one fitted to the 488 GTE race car. Through the use of carbon fiber and alcantara, the Pista is 176 pounds lighter than the GTB it is based on. And with the optional carbon fiber wheels, the weight is reduced by an additional 22 pounds. So while yes, it is technically lighter and more powerful than the 488 GTB, the Pista is so much more than the result of following a recipe.
Now offered for sale, Blue Chip is proud to present this 2019 Ferrari 488 Pista, finished in Argento Nurburgring over Nero Alcantara. An extremely well-specified example, this Pista had an original MSRP of $469,196.00 and is equipped with over $120,000.00 in factory options. Specified equipment includes racing stripes in Blu America, Blu brake calipers, carbon fiber wheels with carbon fiber hubcaps, carbon fiber front flaps, carbon fiber side air splitters, engine covers in carbon fiber, rear diffuser in carbon fiber, carbon fiber underdoor covers, and carbon fiber sill trim. Inside the cabin, carbon fiber racing seats are trimmed in Nero Alcantara with seat belts in Blu and stitching in Blu Sterling. The Cavallino Rampante is stitched in Blu onto the headrests of the seats. Nero Alcantara extends to the dashboard, center console, interior carpets, rear wall, and the upper passenger compartment. The rev counter is finished in Aluminum, and carbon fiber trim adorns the steering wheel, air vents, and dashboard. An optional fire extinguisher can also be found in the passenger footwell, and an integrated audio system with Navigation and Bluetooth can be controlled by the driver via a digital screen in the gauge cluster.
This 488 Pista has also been fitted with a full Kline Inconel valvetronic exhaust system with carbon fiber exhaust tips and currently sits on Novitec Sport Springs. Factory yellow Scuderia Shields and the factory front emblem have been replaced by carbon fiber shields and a carbon fiber emblem, and a full body Paint Protection Film has been installed. Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires were installed in May of 2023, and a four wheel alignment was performed at the time of installation.
Now available in Denver, Colorado, this 2019 Ferrari 488 Pista comes complete with two keys, the manufacturer’s literature, a clean Carfax, and a clean Colorado title.
