1963 Porsche 356B Coupe

By 1963, Porsche had meticulously refined the 356B, achieving a balance of elegance and performance that has since become legendary. The 356’s timeless design, favored by icons like Steve McQueen and Janis Joplin, was further perfected by esteemed coachbuilder Karmann, who had mastered the art of production.

Introduced in 1959, the 356B brought several enhancements to Porsche's already distinguished lineup. These included raised headlamps, an upgraded gearbox and brakes, redesigned rear seats, and a larger rear window, all contributing to improved comfort, handling, and drivability. The 356B’s four-wheel independent suspension and manual four-speed gearbox showcased Porsche’s commitment to engineering excellence, setting a benchmark for future models.

This particular T-6 B Coupé is a testament to Porsche’s engineering prowess. Powered by an air-cooled, four-cylinder, 1.6-liter engine, it features a new intake manifold, larger twin carburetors, a higher compression ratio, and an improved crankshaft—delivering 60 brake horsepower to the rear wheels. Weighing in at well under a ton, it offers a spirited driving experience emblematic of Porsche’s early vehicles.

Now offered for sale, Blue Chip is proud to present this T-6 bodied 1963 Porsche 356B coupe, finished in Ivory over a Black leather interior. One-owner from new until 2012, this example features a matching-numbers drivetrain, all original body panels, original pan, original interior, original decklids, a wooden Carrera GS steering wheel, Lemmerz chrome wheels, a factory luggage rack, Blaupunkt radio, and Coco mats. Ordered new in this specification, this car has since been repainted in its factory Ivory exterior color. The odometer displays 90,045 miles, although true mileage is unknown.

Previously owned by comedian and late-night talk show host Jimmy Fallon, this 356 is in exceptional condition and was comes complete with a copy of its factory Kardex, factory original owner’s manuals, original tool kit, a copy of the original New Jersey certificate of ownership, a service invoice for four new Michelin tires from 1992, spare tire, jack, original floor mats, and the original license plate frame from the dealership at which the car was first sold. Under the hood, Jimmy Fallon’s signature has been applied in black permanent marker.
