The Details
The 993-generation Porsche 911 Turbo, introduced for the 1996 model year, marked a significant evolution in the 911 lineage. It was the first Turbo model to feature twin-turbocharging and all-wheel drive, refining power delivery while maintaining the dynamic characteristics of its predecessors. The air-cooled 3.6-liter flat-six engine produced 408 horsepower and 398 lb-ft of torque, allowing for a 0–100 km/h time of 4.5 seconds and a top speed of 290 km/h. The 993 Turbo retained the widened bodywork of previous iterations, with a rear track 60 mm wider than the standard Carrera, integrated side air intakes, and the model’s distinctive “tea tray” rear spoiler.
This 1996 Porsche 911 Turbo is specified with the rare sunroof-delete option, a feature that reduces weight and increases chassis rigidity. The car has 32,255 miles and underwent a comprehensive mechanical overhaul in 2023. The engine was removed and completely resealed, with timing chains, twin turbochargers, engine mounts, clutch, flywheel, and front brakes replaced, all using genuine Porsche parts. The total cost of the work exceeded $44,464.
To enhance handling, Bilstein PSS10 coilovers have been installed, providing adjustable damping and improved suspension response. A Fabspeed muffler bypass replaces the stock exhaust silencers, modifying the engine’s tonal characteristics while reducing backpressure. The air conditioning system remains fully functional, maintaining factory-spec cooling performance.
Included with the car are two new, genuine Porsche keys. With its sunroof-delete configuration, extensive recent servicing, and factory-correct mechanical components, this example represents a well-preserved and mechanically refreshed iteration of the final air-cooled 911 Turbo.
