Porsche truly saved the best for last with the 997 generation of the 911, culminating in the exceptional GT3 RS 4.0. This model represented years of rigorous testing on the open road and in motorsport, boasting the most powerful naturally aspirated flat-six engine Porsche had produced at the time. Delivering 500 brake horsepower at 8,250 rpm and 339 pound-feet of torque, this remarkable performance was achieved through features like a new intake manifold, higher-flow air filters encased in carbon-fiber housings, less restrictive catalytic converters, Variocam-Plus variable valve timing, and a two-stage variable induction system. Despite the standard 911 GT3 RS already being lightweight, Porsche managed to shave off an additional 22 pounds by incorporating carbon-fiber front fenders and a trunk lid, along with titanium connecting rods and lighter interior trim.
