Description
The 997 GT3 RS stood as a masterful embodiment of Porsche's racing heritage, offering a stripped-down homologation special that seamlessly blended track prowess with street legality. Introduced in Europe in late 2006 and making its way to the U.S. in the spring of 2007, fewer than 1,200 of these exceptional machines were produced worldwide.
At the core of the GT3 RS was the formidable 3.6-liter GT3 engine, designated as the Type M97/76. This high-revving, naturally aspirated powerhouse boasted DOHC, four-valve technology, titanium connecting rods, VarioCam, and a two-stage resonance induction system. Together, these elements produced an impressive 415 horsepower at 7,600 rpm and 295 foot-pounds of torque at 5,500 rpm. The engine's output was managed by a G97/90 six-speed manual transmission with close-ratio gearing and a locking, asymmetrical-ratio differential. Porsche's sophisticated traction management systems, including ABD (Automatic Brake Differential), ASR (Automatic Slip Regulation), MSR (Engine Drag Force Control), and PASM (Porsche Active Stability Management), ensured optimal performance and handling.
The GT3 RS accelerated from 0 to 60 mph in just four seconds, with a top track speed exceeding 190 mph. Its aerodynamic enhancements included a redesigned front fascia, air splitter, divided rear bumper, and center-mounted exhaust pipes. Extensive use of carbon fiber, including a large fixed rear wing, underscored its racing pedigree. Inside, the GT3 RS offered racing seats and the option for a full roll cage, eliminating rear seats for a pure performance-focused experience.
The suspension setup featured McPherson strut front suspension and Multi-link (LSA) rear suspension, ensuring superior agility and stability. A light-alloy rear subframe with aluminum shock absorbers, large anti-roll bars, and substantial 13.75-inch ventilated and cross-drilled disc brakes with six-piston front calipers and four-piston rear calipers provided exceptional handling and braking performance.
Visually, the GT3 RS was offered in distinctive color schemes: White with orange graphics, Black with orange graphics, and Orange with black graphics. The wide 18-inch front and 19-inch rear light-alloy wheels, painted to match the car’s accents, enhanced its striking appearance.
Now offered for sale, Blue Chip is proud to present this 2007 Porsche 911 GT3 RS, finished in Carrara White without graphics over a Black Full Leather interior and Silver painted wheels. A tastefully specified example, the original MSRP in 2007 for this 997.1 was $146,345.00. Reportedly 1 of just 39 examples finished in Carrera White without graphics, additional selected options include Ceramic Composite Brakes, Chrono package, Bi-Xenon Headlamp package, deviated stitching on the dashboard, doors, door handles, rear side panels, and center console; gear lever trim in Carrara White, a full Black Leather interior, and Painted Silver Wheels.
With just 14,172 miles on the odometer, this GT3 RS is in excellent condition and comes complete with manufacturer’s literature, a special tool kit, car cover, and clean DME and CARFAX reports. It represents a pristine, unmolested example ready to offer its next owner both visual delight and visceral excitement.
